If you’re looking for a quick and adorable Easter crochet project, you’re in exactly the right place. Today I’m sharing my free crochet pattern for Chick and Bunny Easter Egg Cozies — a cheerful little make that’s perfect for spring decorating, gifting, or simply using up those colourful scraps hiding in your yarn basket.
I absolutely love designing easy crochet patterns for beginners, and these egg cozies are about as simple (and satisfying!) as it gets. They work up incredibly quickly — honestly, you can make one in the time it takes to drink a cuppa — and they’re designed to fit snugly around a real egg or a chocolate treat like a Creme Egg from Cadbury. They’re brilliant for Easter tables, egg hunts, handmade gifts, or just adding a bit of handmade charm to your home.
This is a beginner friendly crochet pattern using only US single crochet (UK double crochet) throughout. If you know how to work in the round, you’re ready to go — and if you’re comfortable with a magic circle, that’s helpful too (though not essential). I’ve also made a step-by-step video tutorial on YouTube to guide you through the process, so you can crochet along with me from start to finish. If you prefer visual learning, you’ll definitely want to keep that open while you work — I’ve included several places below where you can jump straight to the video tutorial.
One of my favourite things about this project is that it’s a true scrap yarn crochet pattern. You only need small amounts of yarn in yellow, orange, white, pink, and black — perfect for using leftovers from other projects. That makes these cosy little characters wonderfully budget-friendly as well as quick to make. Whether you’re crocheting just one or a whole basket full, they’re ideal for last-minute Easter crafting.
For tools, I love using my Tulip Etimo hooks — they’re so comfortable to hold and glide beautifully through the stitches (click here! As an Amazon Affiliate, I may earn a commission on any purchases made through clicking my links). I also rely on my adorable stitch markers from Cat in Teacups to keep track of rounds — they make crocheting even more fun and are available on Amazon too if you’d like the same ones - click here!
If you’d like extra guidance, don’t forget there’s a full video tutorial to accompany this free Easter crochet pattern — perfect if you’re new to crocheting in the round or just want to follow along at a relaxed pace. You can watch the tutorial before you start, keep it open while crocheting, or use it to help with finishing details like the bunny ears and chick features.
These crochet Easter egg cozies are fast, simple, and completely addictive to make — once you finish one, it’s very hard to stop! So grab your scrap yarn, pop on the tutorial, and let’s make something sweet for Easter.
